That Long Thin Line

If you were in an art class, with no sense of talent, drawing a long

thin line, and that thin line, on the page, represents your life's work,

or life's torment, or the path of your direction in life, even the love

of your life -- then perhaps that thin line doesn't look like much...

after all, its just a long thin line and others are drawing fine faces

and vast landscapes. The initial difficulty is that you are

underestimating this thin line to a monstrous degree. If you were to

take that line, just that line, and put it under the scope of your own

compassion, then you would see -- that as you enlarged that line,

all kinds of life scenarios and images would open, flower, and

come alive as your own life.

That long thin line would be seen as one of the necessary threads

of the universe, a living part of the "String Theory", so to speak.

So when you draw that long thin line -- on paper, or in your mind's

eye, about yourself -- remember just how concentrated a message

it is - a living thread -- of the universe.

What I am addressing -- is that the creative is fully there, even as

that long thin line, even though you assess it as being less creative.

These slim threads of ourselves, in difficult times, are essential to

us.  We need them to be there. They carry us throughout difficult

times -- in the margins -- where they are overlooked and thus

survive undamaged -- the effects of the caustic microscope -- of

ourselves or others, kind of like a tiny slice of living awareness

that is swept aside like dust and hair. But then, when the conditions

are right -- or ripe, that tiny slice opens up into the vast blue sky. So

I think that you would do well to see the value of these slim lines of

creativity and meaning in yourself, and remind yourself from time to time

about the value that your inherently carry. Compassion must be

applied internally-- you're entitled to your own wisdom function.
